Procedure
Users of Sonoma State University computers may install software and versions of software that have been classified by Information Technology (IT) as either “supported” or “recommended.” These applications must have current patches applied directly after the installation. For a current list of “supported” or “recommended” applications see the list of currently supported Windows applications or currently supported Macintosh applications.
All other software installations need approval from the Information Technology department before installation on university owned computers can granted. The purpose of this requirement is to protect Sonoma State’s infrastructure from malware or other software that may create security vulnerabilities. An IT GeoTeam or an IT Helpdesk representative is to be contacted to forward the installation request to the appropriate administrator.
